I read this story (buried away at the bottom of the list of news stories) about this psychotic fucking bitch Shelia Phelps-Roper (a member of Freddy Fucking Phelps' inbred clan) getting arrested while protesting across from a soldier's funeral. She was charged with, among other things, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and mutilating a flag for allowing her 10 year old son to stomp on an American flag. That got me thinking about the constitutional protection for free speech and for expressive conduct -- specifically, the protection of expressive flag burning from Texas v. Johnson. I was thinking about posting a discussion about whether this type of behavior fits under Texas v. Johnson or whether it falls into a "fighting words" exception, given the location and the audience.

Then, however, I read this story (front and center as one of today's top stories) about Paris Hilton being released from jail 3 days in to her 23 day sentence.

I just don't know where to go from here.
